The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an interdisciplinary initiative that combines basic science, clinical research, epidemiology/cancer control, and patient care throughout the University of California, San Francisco. UCSF's long tradition of excellence in cancer research includes, notably, the Nobel Prize-winning work of J. Michael Bishop and Harold Varmus, who discovered cancer-causing oncogenes. Their work opened new doors for exploring genetic mistakes that cause cancer, and formed the basis for some of the most important cancer research happening today.

The physicians, staff and volunteers at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Comprehensive Community Cancer Center understand that treatment of cancer goes beyond the disease. It encompasses treating the whole person, including caregivers and loved ones also impacted by cancer. It was those founding principles that lead to the creation of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cancer Center in 1995. Physicians and staff turned their vision of providing comprehensive cancer care to patients in our own community. Today, the cancer center is a nationally accredited Comprehensive Community Cancer Program by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. We are proud to be among a limited group of cancer centers in America to reach that level of accreditation.

Stanford is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) - designated Cancer Center, a testament to our scientific excellence and outstanding patient care. We use a multidisciplinary team approach to tackle all cancers, including the most complex and difficult cases. Patients receiving care in the Stanford Cancer Center have access to the full complement of specialist physicians within the Medical Center who are recognized experts in their field. At our weekly Multidisciplinary Patient Review Boards, customized treatment plans are developed for patients with input from the entire team.

The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center is a leader in cancer research, with more than 200 members investigating the complex origins and progression of cancer, developing prevention strategies and searching for cures.
