Drywall Accessory Products - RICH-TEX, INC

Between approximately 1963-1991, Rich-Tex was engaged in the manufacture and sale of drywall accessory products including joint compounds and texturing products.  The company was located in Richmond, California

Some of Rich-Tex’s products contained asbestos between approximately 1963-1977, including:

  • Taping Compound (1963-1977);
  • Topping Compound (1963-1977);
  • General Purpose Compound (1963-1977);
  • Spray Texture (1963-1977);
  • General Purpose Ready-Mix (1970-1977);
  • Topping Compound Ready-Mix (1970-1977); and
  • E-Z Set (1975-1977).

Most of the asbestos fiber used by Rich-Tex in the manufacture of its products was supplied to Rich-Tex by Carey-Canada, Johns-Manville, Atlas Asbestos and Union Carbide

The handling, mixing and sanding of these products caused the release of hazardous levels of respirable asbestos fiber and dust from the products into the workplace air, thereby exposing workers to unsafe levels of asbestos from the products.  Exposures to asbestos also occurred during clean-up of asbestos-containing dust from the products on the jobsite.  Exposure to asbestos can cause various asbestos-related diseases including mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis.

If you or someone you know has been exposed to asbestos as a result of handling or being involved with Drywall Accessory Products, and if you think such exposure may have caused you or your loved one to become ill with mesothelioma or any other form of asbestos related disease, please contact the lawyers at Clapper, Patti Schweizer & Mason for more information.
