Minnesota Mesothelioma Treatment Centers

Minnesota Mesothelioma Treatment Centers

There are a heightened number of cases of diagnosed mesothelioma in the state of Minnesota, thought to be due to the taconite mining performed in the Northeastern region of the state.  In response, the major medical treatment centers that treat mesothelioma have conducted numerous studies looking into causes and most effective therapies.

The two major treatment centers for mesothelioma in Minnesota are the Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota Cancer Center.  The Mayo Clinic Cancer Center is located in Rochester.  They have two other branches, one in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, and another in Jacksonville, Florida.  The Mayo Clinic is a full spectrum cancer research and treatment facility that aims to better understand the biology of different cancers, including mesothelioma, as well as better ways to predict, prevent, diagnose, manage and treat cancer.

The Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota located in Minneapolis also focuses on discovering the causes of cancer as well as methods of prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer with the goal of improving survival times and quality of life for patients.

Clinical trials for mesothelioma, such as those offered through the National Cancer Institute, are also performed at the Masonic Cancer Center.  Clinical trials search for new drugs and intervention therapies that will cure, prolong life and improve quality of life for those diagnosed with advanced cancer.
