Oct 6, 2008 - Asbestos Removal Requires Advanced Notice to Authorities
Inspectors from the EPA and California Air Resources Board discovered a year ago that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and not given advanced notice to the EPA in demolishing buildings near Niland, CA. The notice and other federal asbestos safety regulations are in place to prevent exposure to asbestos, which is easily airborne during renovation or demolition.
The EPA fined the L.A. department $9,030 for violation of the Clean Air Act.
