Clapper Patti Schweizer & Mason, attorneys who specialize in mesothelioma lawsuits, support the U.S. Coast Guard in two major ways. Christine Renken, an attorney with the law firm, was just nominated and voted in as the new president of the North Bay Coast Guard Spouses Club (“NBCGSC” ) for the 2011-2012 year. In addition, CPSM sponsors the National Coast Guard Day, August 4, 2011 with a substantial donation and door prize.
As president, Renken, the wife of active duty member Chief Machinery Technician Kenneth Renken, will promote and guide the Spouses Club in all its endeavors. As military families do not often stay in one place very long, Spouses Clubs are integral for military families to furnish educational information, provide a support system, offer community service and create fellowship.
The NBCGSC engages in fundraising throughout the year to support its commitment to community service, as well as the support of military families. This past year, NBCGSC has donated to community and military organizations, including Hospice by the Bay Foundation and the military organization that operates Operation Purple Camps for military children.
Renken will be in charge of the North Bay Spouses’ club participation in celebrating Coast Guard Day on August 4, 2011 at Coast Guard Island Alameda. In addition, CPSM has made a substantial donation that will support the National Coast Guard Day and help cover some cost of desirable door prizes to be given away.
The Coast Guard officially began on August 4, 1790 and is the oldest maritime service in the United States. It was the only armed force at sea until the Navy was established in 1798. The official use of the name Coast Guard began in 1915.
The United States Coast Guard is dedicated to ensuring the safety of those at sea, enforcing Federal maritime laws in oceans, coastal waters and inland waterways, and protecting the marine environment throughout the nation. Coast Guard Day, held Aug 4th, is now the largest community celebration of all the branches of military in the nation.
CPSM is showing their support due to the large number of Veterans and active servicemen from the Coast Guard, as well as all branches of the military, who were exposed to asbestos during their time of duty and have now developed or died from mesothelioma, a fatal form of cancer, or asbestosis, an incurable scarring of the lungs.
To read more about how exposure to asbestos occurs for Coast Guard members and what to do if you are a veteran or active duty member and need assistance, please visit the Veterans Section of the CPSM website that contains information specific to the Coast Guard.
