Deborah Schweizer, partner and attorney at CPSM, strongly believes in and fights hard to bring justice to individuals who have been harmed as a result of negligence or wrong-doing by powerful corporations who try to escape responsibility for their conduct. She is one of the top mesothelioma attorneys in the nation dedicated to improving the quality of life for her clients and ensuring asbestos victims will be compensated.
Ms. Schweizer regularly attends conferences throughout the nation and is active in numerous organizations dedicated to bettering the lives of individuals, obtaining justice and access to the courts, and leveling the playing field between the injured and the corporate wrongdoers. For the past six months, she has participated in a committee of attorneys working with the Court to revise the rules that govern the management of asbestos cases in San Francisco County. Working with other attorneys on both sides of the bar and the San Francisco Asbestos Judge, Ms. Schweizer advocates for the rights and protection of plaintiffs wrongfully injured from asbestos. The new Case Management Order just went into effect on July 2.
For our clients diagnosed with mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases, there are always two parallel tracks of action they must take: one, seeking the best treatment for their particular type of asbestos disease (often referred to as ‘asbestos cancer’); and two, seeking the best legal counsel to represent them in a mesothelioma lawsuit, asbestos-related lawsuit, or asbestos bankruptcy trust claim. Both tracks are extremely important, and to stay current with the latest and best medical information related to mesothelioma treatment and asbestos diseases, Ms. Schweizer attended the Current Concepts and Controversies in Asbestos-Related Disease Conference offered by Massachusetts General Hospital, Department of Medicine and Harvard Medical School held in Boston this past May. Presenters at the conference included asbestos and mesothelioma experts Dr. Richard Kradin, Dr. Richard Lemen, Dr. Eugene Mark, Dr. Samuel Hammar, Dr. Ronald Dodson, among others.
Ms. Schweizer also attended the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Leaders Retreat in Santa Barbara in May, where guest speakers presented information pertinent to fighting for the rights of consumers and injured persons. This topic is extremely timely as the current climate is allowing for endless amounts of corporate money to be poured into campaigns to elect Senators, Representatives and a President who wants to eliminate consumers’ rights and access to the court system.
The Mission of the American Association for Justice is to promote a fair and effective justice system and to support the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person injured by misconduct or negligence of can obtain justice in America’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests. Ms. Schweizer also plans to attend the AAJ Annual Conference being held in Chicago this coming July.
Clapper, Patti, Schweizer & Mason has fought for over thirty years to make sure that injured workers and individuals have open access to the courts and a level playing field against large asbestos companies and corporate America. If you would like to get involved and help others who have been injured by big business, contact Ms. Schweizer to find out what you can do.
